Introduction

Being a teacher is a great responsibility but also a difficult task. Each lesson of the day must be prepared by the educator very carefully in order for the learners succeed. However, each lesson also must be fun, in order for keep the student’s interest.

The toolkits have many valuable ideas which might help many teachers in bringing fun to the class. My toolkit will help me to share my ideas with any teachers that need help. Also, many activities that I saw in the classrooms or heard from classmates might be enough to bring joy to learning. My rubric composes of eight categories: Autobiography Music, Games, Video, Literature, Storytelling, Drama, Visual arts, TPR. In each I will share two activities that I thought of, observed in schools, or heard form my classmates and friends.

  1. In Storytelling, I wanted to put the emphasis on three parts of the story: Beginning, Middle, and End. These ideas might apply more to the Elementary but I could see them work in higher grades. The activities will consist of writing, drawing, and speaking the stories out loud.
  2. The TPR are the activities that involve moving the body. Activities will be performed by using the body language. Most of them will consist of exercising.
  3. Music is always appreciated when the lessons are difficult. Especially, knowing the long and short vowels and other tricky tasks can be helped. All I did was to go on either Google or Yahoo and hit Search for what I was looking for.
  4. Visual Arts might work especially with the younger students. These have to do with pictures, bright colors, and symbols that the students like. It is essential that they show their individuality by making good art.
  5. Literature might be difficult to understand sometimes. The best way to learn it is to do fun activities. The ones I posted
  6. Autobiography is a good way for the students to realize that they are special. It is also important that they show it to their classmates. The assignments I posted are for the students to show off their life to others around them.
  7. Games are a great way to involve students in any activity or simply relax them before or after a serious study. The ones I thought of involve either moving around or using their brains.
  8. Video might be exciting for the students, especially those who are not shy in front of the camera. Those who are shy, can become more confident especially if the classmates are very supportive. In the examples I gave, the teacher can bring a camera to class and if there is enough resources whatever is recorded the teacher can put on DVD or VCR. Each student can take home a souvenir or what happened that day in class.
  9. Drama might be very similar to video, however the students in the examples I showed, must show that they are able and not afraid to show the world who they are.
